3 Unique Ways To Entertain Kids At A Hotel

Blog

Hotels are a great way to enjoy downtime and relax while on vacation. For children, the idea of a hotel room can include boredom really quickly. Fortunately, parents can take advantage of some key hotel features to provide entertainment and keep children entertained while on vacation.

The next time you book a hotel, consider these entertainment options and find ways to extend the fun without the need to constantly leave the room.

Office Center Coloring Pages

Many hotels feature an office center. An office center often includes a printer that guests have access to. Keep children entertained when you print out pictures online. Printed coloring book pages can keep children busy. Also, consider printing out other activities like mazes or word games.

When you select coloring pages, look for designs that feature the theme of your vacation. For example, if you stay at Town Center hotels near beaches, then consider printing beach-themed coloring pages. If you do not have crayons, then check the hotel gift shop to see if any crayons are for sale. The front desk of the hotel could also help you acquire some crayons.

Channel Surfing I-Spy

While a hotel TV may not have the same channels and shows you are used to at home, you can still keep a child entertained with the television. Turn the hotel TV into a fun game like "Channel Surfing". Write down random objects or TV show elements on small pieces of paper. Have the child pick a random subject.

A child must find the item as quickly as possible while browsing through the channels. Examples include a "Sports Game", a weather report, or a commercial for a food product. A child will have fun searching through the channels and trying to spot the different challenges. As they discover the items, try to increase the difficulty and pick harder challenges.

Hide & Seek Objects

While a hotel room is often too small for people to play hide and seek in, a child can still enjoy the game in a different and creative way. Hide a small toy or object around the hotel room and have the child hunt to find the toy. The toy hunt search creates some fun for the child and will keep them busy as they search around.

Once a child finds the object, you can hide it again or have them hide it so you can find it.

Use these games and tips for all of your future family hotel stays.
